Panther City Pass Spotlight: Atlas Bar Fort Worth

Atlas Bar Fort Worth, a newcomer in the vibrant South Main Street area, feels pleasantly lost in time. With accents of Victorian-era Europe blended with surrealist elements, the space exudes escapism. Atlas Bar Fort Worth is the vision of hospitality veteran Dan Bui, who opened the first location in Bishop Arts District in 2021. The menu reflects Bui’s vast travels and features international favorites.

The Beef Italian Meatballs were a welcome opener. Swimming in a rich marinara sauce and topped with parmesan, the herb-infused polpette in sugo had a lovely grilled outer crust and savory, juicy center. We greedily devoured the four large meatballs and mopped up the remaining rich and tangy tomato sauce with the accompanying toast points.

The carnitas tacos don’t skimp on the meat. The slow-roasted pork was tender and succulent, every bite benefiting from finely chopped onions, fresh cilantro, and a zesty squeeze of lime. The lively tomatillo sauce was rich in bright, zesty flavors but mercifully easy on the heat.

The juicy, slow-roasted pork was also featured in the Cuban sandwich. Paired with salty, savory ham and melted Swiss cheese, every bite was delightful. Large crunchy pickles and a generous slathering of mustard added a tangy bite to the hefty and filling sammy.

The lovely dim and stark space comes to life at night when the light hits a lovely sweet spot that is both intimate and inviting. On a return visit, the Old Fashioned was a boozy delight — lightly sweet with just the perfect kiss of orange notes.

Atlas Bar Fort Worth joins two popular neighbors along South Main Street: The Coupe (a sparkling wine bar) and Buena Vida Taqueria (a Latin restaurant with breezy Miami vibes). Atlas Bar Fort Worth deserves top billing on your weekend date card.
