Late-Night Bites

You don’t have to settle for late-night fast food when these local restaurants serve diners way past Panther City’s usual bedtime.

Nickel City

The tantalizing meaty aromas from Nickel City’s food trailer have redirected many passersby to the bar’s back porch. With comforting bar noshes like Detroit-style coneys, Buffalo wings (unbreaded, like the original), and perfectly fried tots you wish they served in fifth grade, there’s no reason to leave South Main Street hungry.

Star Cafe and Cocktails

West Exchange Avenue is better known for its late-night line dancing and live country music crowds. You don’t have to cross the Northside’s Main Street for late-night bites on Fridays and Saturdays, thanks to Star Cafe and Cocktails’ new 2 a.m. hours on Fridays and Saturdays. The cafe is famed for its chicken-friend steaks, burgers, and (more recently) its expanded cocktail menu.

Fat Shack

West Berry Street’s Fat Shack peddles indulgent offerings like deep-fried chocolate chip cookies and stacked burgers until 2 a.m. Sun-Thur and 3 a.m. Fri-Sat. The menu featuring Buffalo wings, sammies, and fried appetizers is primed to quell late-night munchies.

On a recent visit, the chilly cheesesteak stuck to the classic recipe with tender ribeye steak slices mixed with grilled onions and gobs of American cheese. Fat Shack’s namesake sammy came packed with sliced beef, crispy chicken fingers, fiery jalapeño poppers, mozzarella sticks, and sweet and tangy mustard.

Serious Pizza

Open until midnight Sun-Thur and 3 a.m. Fri-Sat, Serious Pizza caters to late-night crowds with New York-style slices and colossal 30-inch pizzas. The sizes range from extra large to pies that may test the limits of your refrigerator’s capacity.

Jon’s Grille

Chef Jon Bonnell’s TCU-area grille features burgers and steaks sourced from Texas-bred Akaushi and Angus cattle. The unparalleled dining experience stays open from midnight until 2 a.m. with late-night offerings the three Bs: burgers, brisket, and barbecue.

Rogers Roundhouse

This TCU-area American-style beer garden boasts a dog-friendly patio, picnic tables, and live music on weekends. The 30 beers on taps and expansive menu make for a welcome opener and closer to a long evening out.

Reservoir Fort Worth

Why not top off a late night with a West 7th nightcap at Reservoir Fort Worth where you can order a plate of Philly fried rice which comes pan-fried with a half pound of shaved rib eye, chili rice, onions, peppers, and cheddar cheese topped with *deep breath* signature jack cheese sauce, spices, over-easy egg, sesame seeds, green onion, and sweet and spicy honey soy glaze.

Ashim’s Hibachi Grill

Ashim’s Hibachi Grill is a fast-casual restaurant specializing in Japanese Hibachi-style cooking and Korean-style dishes. We hear their fried eggs are on a, um,  roll.
