Good Voodoo
There’s much more than beer on the menu at newcomer Voodoo Brewing Fort Worth, which recently opened at the former location of Four Sisters - A Taste of Vietnam. On a recent visit, I ordered a flight of brews and let the bartender curate my experience.
The Lacto-Kooler is a distinctly green-colored sour ale that was tart and reminded me of granny apple Jolly Ranchers. The White Magick of the Sun had notes of coriander and orange peel. Good Vibes is a bold and hop-forward ale that has a full body and lingering resiny profile.
I savored every sip of the Voodoo Love Child, a Belgian ale with old-world fruity notes and bright yeast character. It was also deceptively boozy.
Out next was the Bayou Po’ Boy, a football-sized sandwich that took two hands to maneuver. The chef didn’t skip on the meat. Piles of golden-fried chicken and shrimp made every bite a delight. The hefty buttered bun was filling and delicious, and the entire ensemble benefited from generous drizzles of creamy chipotle sauce.
Voodoo Brewing’s menu is vast, and the cocktails (including zero-proof options) blend traditional libations with creative takes off classic mixed drinks. The service was top-notch from the beginning to the end of my meal. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of experiences and new beers this brewery conjures up for Fort Worth.
