Uptown Dining

The Alliance area has seen many notable restaurant openings recently. Here are several that caught our attention.

Son of a Butcher

Son of a Butcher, a chef-inspired slider joint colorfully known as SoB, recently opened in the Alliance area. SoB serves Wagyu beef sliders with creative twists like the PB&J Slider, alongside chicken and veggie options, filthy (in a good way) sodas, and creamy shakes. Boozy drinks, standout sides like Loaded Brisket Fries, and biweekly specials round out the tempting offerings at this far Northside dining destination.

Whiskey Cake

More than a restaurant that combines Texans’ two favorite words, Whiskey Cake boasts craft cocktails and farm-to-table comfort food with a local twist. With cozy, rustic decor, Whiskey Cakes’ chefs turn seasonal finds into reimagined American classics by highlighting the best of local fare.

The Sicilian Butcher

Did someone say Meatball Ferris Wheel? The Sicilian Butcher recently opened in far north Fort Worth. The restaurant hails from Scottsdale, Arizona — a place not known for its pasta roots. Joey Maggiore, a Scottsdale-based celebrity chef, opened the restaurant in July, just steps away from his other concept, Hash Kitchen. The Sicilian Butcher offers housemade tagliatelle, spaghetti, and gnocchi, among other Sicilian options.

360 Brunch House

360 Brunch House is famed for its urban atmosphere and chef-driven menu. Order the Flaming Apple Whiskey Cake, one of many French toast options, or the uber-popular lemon poppy and cheesecake-loaded pancakes. With a focus on unique brunch experiences, 360 Brunch House continues to attract patrons seeking vibrant flavors and memorable celebrations.

Three Wide Brewing

Three Wide Brewing Co. is massive with two floors, outdoor seating, a long tapwall, and dozens of large tables. Most of the 20 beers on tap that day defied convention. The Symposia (a sangria lager) had a lovely ruby color and a light, citrusy, and hoppy profile.

The Green Tea Wheat was juicy with mild bitter notes of tea. Darker and oaky, the J’ai Du Bois earned extra points for the name that *chuckles* translates to “I have wood.” I rounded off my flight with Heart of Glass, a dark and roast-y brown ale. All of the brews were standouts and memorable.

The brewpub staples on the food menu include Neapolitan-style pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, chicken tenders, and pretzels. I sprung for the Three Wide Burger, which came served with a side of hefty chips. The burger (steak beef patty, veggies, mayo, cheddar cheese, barbecue sauce) was dense, juicy, and delicious.

Peak Restaurant and Bar
