Kid-Friendly Socializing

Game on, indeed. Courtesy Game Theory

If you are planning on a night out with friends (and kiddos in tow), Panther City offers great entertainment options for all ages.

South Main’s Game Theory is one of my favorite places to take my daughter when meeting up with other parents. With an expansive wall of board games (including classics and newcomers), meat pies (!), light appetizers, and desserts, the kids won’t be bored or hungry as you catch up with friends.

With an enviable view of Clear Fork Trinity River, a sprawling patio, and a well-groomed green space, Press Cafe tops our family-friendly list. The award-winning restaurant has been a popular Panther City destination since 2015, offering a family-friendly menu of American favorites, including artisanal salads, burgers, and cafe specialties.

I remember watching drive-in movie theaters in Denton from my parent’s (gulp) station wagon. While drive-ins haven’t made a total comeback, Fort Worth has an amazing kid-friendly outdoor movie theater. Coyote Drive-In offers delicious food, live music, and a kid-friendly playground to keep little ones entertained before the movie starts.

Before you roll your eyes at the “grocery store” that made it into the “cool spots to socialize” listing, read on. Central Market Fort Worth’s outdoor patio is primed for fall family outings. On weekends, there’s an outdoor bar if you don’t want to talk the extra 20 feet to grab any of the hundreds of bottles of beer or wine inside. The playground is enclosed, and the main stage books amazing local acts on weekends.

Pinstripes is the ultimate hangout, offering daily entertainment with made-from-scratch Italian-American cuisine perfect for weekend brunch, happy hour, or a night of bowling and bocce. Courtside Kitchen is the go-to spot for families and friends to hang out, and enjoy great food, music, and a hopefully not-too-competitive game of pickleball.
