Ban This Show

Blaming our corporate overlords for the relegation of mass shooting body counts, police shootings, and the bombing of civilians overseas to bottom-screen news tickers only goes so far when there’s no clear front against for-profit oppression. Fort Works Art is stepping boldly into the fray with “BAN THIS SHOW,” an exhibition designed to challenge our collective amnesia about societal violence and repression.

Featuring over 30 international artists who push the limits of their mediums, this show tackles the critical issues of our time and forces us to confront them head-on.

Jerome Lagarrigue is one of many in this powerful lineup of Black artists who have sparked vital conversations around Black identity and representation in contemporary art. Kate Simon — renowned for her iconic documentation of punk culture — lends an unapologetic celebration of artistic expression. Nadya (Riot) Tolokonnikova, a founding member of Pussy Riot and an unwavering activist, adds her fierce voice to this compelling roster.  The group exhibition presented by Fort Works Art & CultureX Creative runs Fri, Nov 8, through Sat, Dec 7 at Fort Works Art.
