Amplifying Local Music

Matt Tedder is officially on the Amplify 817 roster.

Four years and many memorable concerts later, Amplify 817’s artist roster now boasts 108 musicians and singer-songwriters.

The Fort Worth Public Library’s free music streaming service reflects the full breadth of music genres in Panther City, said music librarian Rita Alfaro. “We’re proud that Amplify 817 is becoming a part of it and that we’re able to support their work and Fort Worth in this endeavor.”

Newcomer artists include Asa Ace, Curatorial, Eric Bourassa, Friend Operation, Kendi Jean, Matt Tedder, Mister Grandma, Ruby Cavazos, and Spring Palace. Asa Ace is an international DJ whose adept mixing and performing skills provide awe and spiritual healing for audiences. Curitorial’s ambient music pushes listeners beyond their subjective, conscious expectations and into realms of elevated, untethered beauty. Fort Worth’s boundlessly creative singer-songwriter Matt Tedder is officially on the Amplify 817 roster. Bilingual singer/songwriter Ruby Cavazos honed her musical skills in the church before launching her debut single in 2021.

Amplify 817 continues to expand its commercial-free collection of local music through bi-annual artist submission rounds. Selected artists receive a $300 honorarium as part of a three-year license on Amplify 817’s site. Funding for honorariums is provided by donors to the Fort Worth Public Library Foundation.

“Artists are entrepreneurs,” said Fort Worth Public Library director Midori Clark. “In our continued commitment to community vitality and supporting all entrepreneurs, the Library is proud to work in partnership with the Foundation to compensate their artistry with more than just exposure whenever we can.”
