Panther City BBQ was bustling on a recent visit when my double brisket smashburger order came out. The hefty burger took two hands to maneuver. The large toasted sesame buns dutifully held the ground brisket that had a thick, meaty crust. The thick cut of red onion lent a nice crunch to the savory hot mess that had a tinge of heat (likely from the special sauce).

Nearby Brix sells a standout burger loaded with gooey cheese and slathered in Brix’s signature dank sauce — a herby, ranch-style dressing. This burger nails everything folks love about these charred patties. The Tropic Lady’s smash burger features a hearty double patty, grilled onions, melted cheddar, and crunchy pickle slices that exude savory harmony. The use of slightly sweet Hawaiian buns adds a unique twist to the otherwise classic combo.
