Welcome, Kava Culture

Bar manager Michaela’s ceremonial toast set the tone for my first visit to Kava Culture Kava Bar.

“Thank you so much for joining us today and diving into something new,” she said while holding a small bowl filled with premium Kava.

“Bula,” we toasted in Fijian.

Since opening in August 2023, Kava Culture Kava Bar (locally owned and part of a nationwide franchise) has become the highest-selling Kava Culture location in the country. Owner David Gibbs credits the steady foot traffic and rapid growth to the densely populated Alliance area, the quality of the Kava he sells, and creative marketing. Men and women of all ages and demographics have made visits to the North Fort Worth bar a weekly if not daily routine, he said.

Kava Culture Kava Bar does not serve alcohol, which makes it a safe space for sober drinkers who still want to socialize and enjoy a mild buzz.

“We have people who drank alcohol when we first opened and have not had alcoholic drinks in several months,” Gibbs said.

The first thing people notice when they stop drinking alcohol is rapid weight loss, he added. Michaela said she has been sober since she started working at Kava Culture Kava Bar. After trying several means of quitting drinking, she found that Kava naturally weaned her off her addictive habits.

The Kava bar serves teas, cocktails, seltzers, and other drinks mixed with Kava, Kratom, and Delta-8 or Delta-9. Red Vein, Gibbs said, has a similar effect as alcohol. The Green Vein leads to a mild euphoric state while the white vein is a stimulant. The owner recommends that folks mix and match the herbal options to find the best combination that works for them.

Anything offered at Kava Culture is vegan-friendly, organic, and free from artificial ingredients or significant amounts of sugar. The bar is a social hub for folks who want to work outside the office or just spend a day gabbing with locals. Many of the regulars love socializing but find alcohol to be unhealthy and addicting.

Gibbs said he and his wife are planning to open a second Kava Culture location in Willow Park (just west of Fort Worth).  The Kava Culture brand is new to Texas, but several new openings are already in the works. Fort Worth has shown Kava Culture, which also owns Botanical Brewing (maker of canned Kava, Kratom, and Delta drinks), that Texans are craving non-alcoholic drinks that still deliver a pleasant buzz.

“You are literally getting elevated,” Gibbs said. “Everyone is happy.”
