Shasta Haubrich’s closing remarks summed up the evening best. The executive director for Art Tooth reminded attendees at Sunday’s Sip and See fundraiser what the nonprofit has always been about — breaking down the barriers artists face when trying to get their work in front of audiences.

After acknowledging two Art Tooth founders no longer with us — Aimee Cardoso and Jeremy Joel — Haubrich thanked everyone for supporting her four years of leadership and Art Tooth’s mission, which has recently focused on providing affordable studio spaces to local artists.

Ariel Davis (left) talked about her time leading Art Tooth and how  important the nonprofit is to the local art community.

The fundraiser held at Printed Threads featured a silent art auction, raffle, bevs, brats, and live performances. Pre-covid Art Tooth fundraisers aspired to gala-level expectations, sometimes forgetting that the historically artist-led nonprofit was founded by outsiders who worked with what they had. And each other.

Sunday felt like old times.
